Hong Kong's Wine and Dine Festival stretches its hours and expands its space

On the evening of 29 October, the annual Wine and Dine Festival will begin at the piers of Hong Kong's Central Harbourfront, and this year, for the first time, it will run until one in the morning on Friday and Saturday and will occupy additional space in Tamar Park.

The organisers — the Hong Kong Tourism Board — have increased the number of stalls by more than ten percent, to more than 340, and expect around 168 thousand visitors. Compared with last year's 160 thousand, the growth is modest but symbolic: the city clearly intends not merely to gather a crowd, but to keep it longer.

New pavilions from Australia, Canada and South Korea will complement the familiar French, Italian and Spanish stalls. For the first time, professional tasting tours and master classes will appear, and after the four-day festival, the whole of November will be held under the sign of "Gourmet Month" — with special offers in restaurants for ticket holders.

The chairman of the board, Peter Lam, says plainly: the goal is to encourage guests to stay in the city longer and spend more. At a time when many Asian destinations are competing for the same tourists, Hong Kong is betting not on the number of arrivals, but on the depth of their engagement with the local gastronomy.

The expansion to Tamar Park and the late hours are not merely a convenience. This is an attempt to turn the festival from a one-off event into an entry point to a longer acquaintance with the city, where the evening harbour and the nightlife venues become part of a single experience.

In the end, the festival of 2026 looks like a quiet but consistent step towards making tourism in Hong Kong cease to be transitory and become a genuine reason to linger.
