During the match NFL referee Adrian Hill announced a foul, but did so with his back turned to the TV cameras. For the players everything sounded perfectly clear, while the television audience got a vivid report from the referee's back.
A few seconds later Hill realized he had chosen not the most fortunate angle, turned toward the lens and calmly reported:
"And now β for the television audience."
After that the referee repeated the announcement in full β loudly, clearly, and now facing millions of viewers. It turned out to be a real second take live on air: without a director, a makeup artist or a clapperboard, but with a penalty and professional composure.
The commentators immediately burst out laughing. It seems the referee decided that one announcement for the players was not enough: television paid for the broadcast and also deserves personal service.
Usually it is the referees who demand a replay. But this time the referee himself became the replay.
Now the fans are waiting for the extended director's cut of the episode, footage from the set and a nomination for Adrian Hill for the award "Emmy" for Best Actor in the category "Announcing a Penalty from the Right Angle."
All that was left was to shout:
