Michael Kim's Historic Round in Golf-1
Michael Kim shoots 59(!!!) for new course record | 3M Open | Round 2 | 2026

Michael Kim shot a 59 in the second round of the 3M Open 2026 (Friday, July 24) at TPC Twin Cities.

The American (born in Seoul, raised in San Diego) completed the round with 12 birdies and no bogeys, setting a course record. He closed the round with four consecutive birdies, and the decisive one from about 17-24 feet on the par-5 18th hole went down in history as one of the longest putts for a 59 on the PGA Tour.

By various counts, this is the 15th or 16th score of 59 or lower in PGA Tour history (Jim Furyk has a 58, so the total number of rounds under 60 is slightly higher than the number of pure 59s). This is the first sub-60 of the 2026 season.

After the round, Kim led by several strokes (around 14-under). He already has one Tour victory – the 2018 John Deere Classic. He is now 33 years old.

This is a historic moment for golf.
