A doctor who goes to bed at one in the morning, yet calls himself a longevity specialist, is a paradox in itself.
Ronald Primas, a 66-year-old New York internist who transitioned to preventive medicine back in the 1990s, sees patients until late in the evening and often makes house calls. His schedule does not fit popular recommendations about early bedtimes, yet he claims he tries to "check as many longevity boxes as possible."

Primas began working in this direction long before the terms healthspan and biological age appeared. Back then, there were no wearable devices, genomics, or artificial intelligence, but the principle remained the same: chronic diseases form years before the first symptoms.
His daily routine includes strength training three times a week, high-intensity interval training twice, Zone 2, and stretching. He walks for 20 minutes after every meal and gets up every hour to do squats. Data on the benefits of regular physical activity for the cardiovascular system, metabolism, and neuroplasticity have been accumulated in dozens of studies and appear to be the most convincing.
Primas limits his sleep to a strict window: he goes to bed late but sleeps for over seven hours in a completely dark and cool room.
