Chinese premium brand Denza, part of BYD, has unveiled an updated version of the large electric SUV Denza N8. The model received a purely electric powertrain and a claimed range of 1003 km on the CLTC cycle — a figure previously demonstrated only by the hybrid version.
The car is equipped with a second-generation Blade Battery with a capacity of 130,15 kWh. According to certification data from the Chinese Ministry of Industry, this allows achieving a record result for the segment. Fast charging using Flash Charging technology restores 10–70% of charge in just five minutes, and up to 97% in nine minutes. The crossover's dimensions are 5150 × 1999 × 1820 mm with a wheelbase of 3075 mm.
The powertrain lineup includes rear-wheel-drive versions with 320 or 370 kW, as well as a three-motor all-wheel drive with a total output of 890 kW (1193 hp). Buyers will be offered both a regular five-seat and an extended six-seat N8L modification, which will go on sale in September.
The interior attracts special attention. Instead of the usual floating screen, the dashboard features a 30-inch horizontal display, and under the windshield there is a panoramic HUD 1,1 meters long. This layout provides the driver with all necessary information in the natural field of view, and the passenger with ample space for entertainment. Ambient lighting, premium seats, and wireless charging complete the picture.
Previously, the hybrid version of the Denza N8 failed to gain a significant market share and was discontinued. Now the company is betting on pure electric drive and advanced charging technologies to bring the model back into the game amid growing competition in the large premium SUV segment.
In real-world conditions, especially at high speeds and in cold weather, the range will be lower than the claimed CLTC, but the combination of a large battery and ultra-fast charging is already changing the perception of long-distance travel in electric vehicles. Isn't it true that such engineering solutions are gradually blurring the lines between "urban" and "long-range" electric cars?
Sales of the Denza N8 in China will begin in the coming months. The model is positioned as a flagship five-seat premium electric SUV capable of competing with leading market players in terms of range and equipment level.
