On 11 August 2026, BYD officially launched the updated Seal 06 2027 model year, introducing two versions — fully electric and plug-in hybrid. Prices start from 99 900 yuan for the hybrid and 109 900 for the electric car, while the main highlights are ultra-fast charging and the fifth-generation DM system.
The electric version, based on the e-Platform 3.0 Evo with the second-generation Blade battery, can charge from 10 to 70% in just five minutes, and a full charge to 97% takes nine minutes. Even in extreme cold down to minus 30 degrees, the time increases by only three minutes — charging from 20% to 97% will take about 12 minutes. The CLTC range reaches 630 km with consumption of 10,7 kWh per 100 km. The hybrid version offers 320 km of pure electric range, consumption of 2,59 liters per 100 km in discharge mode, and a total range of up to 2370 km.
High-end trims are equipped with a lidar and the "Eye of God" B system, which handles city and highway navigation, as well as fully automatic parking. Notably, BYD is the first in the industry to take responsibility for incidents within the system's operating area — a rare step, as most manufacturers hide behind "assistant" disclaimers.
The interior features a 15,6-inch screen, AI integration, a four-zone voice assistant, and individual ONE ID profiles. Top versions include the Yunpian-C adaptive suspension, ventilated and massaging seats, a refrigerator, and 50 W wireless charging. Such a set of features was only offered in the premium segment a few years ago, but is now available in the mass category.
BYD continues to build fast-charging infrastructure: the company has already deployed 7018 Flash Charging stations in 325 Chinese cities, intending to increase this number to 20 000 by the end of 2026. The first year of owning the Seal 06 EV will include free ultra-fast charging sessions, which significantly eases the transition for buyers to electric vehicles.
The question is how quickly competitors can respond to such a level of integration of battery, charging, and assistants. BYD is consistently transferring technologies previously available only in the premium segment into the price range of 100–150 thousand yuan. Meanwhile, the Chinese manufacturer continues to narrow the gap between affordability and advanced solutions, making them part of everyday reality for millions of drivers.
