On 13 September, rail traffic in Warsaw was disrupted by a passenger who was certainly not on any booking list.
On the tracks between the stations Warszawa Zachodnia and Warszawa Centralna a moose came out. Railway workers immediately gave the uninvited guest the name Emil and temporarily suspended service at platforms No. 3 and No. 4. Because of his stroll, train traffic was seriously disrupted for about two hours.
The most wonderful part is the railway's official tone.
PKP PLK informed passengers that specialists were already on the scene and that with Emil "negotiations are underway".
That is, somewhere in central Warsaw that evening, roughly the following was happening:
trains are standing, passengers are waiting, railway employees are looking at an enormous moose…
and trying to convince him that the Central Station is not the best place for an evening stroll.
The railway workers also promised to return Emil to his natural environment "safely, but not by train".
Meanwhile, the culprit of the transport collapse himself was not particularly nervous. According to Polish media reports, he wandered through the tunnel for a while, and then even lay down beside the railway tracks.
Apparently, he decided that since the train was delayed, he might as well take a rest.
In the end, specialists sedated the animal, carefully removed it from the railway territory and released it in a wooded area far from the tracks. After that, train traffic was restored.
So Emil's journey ended well.
He did not buy a ticket.
He did not use the train.
But he managed to make part of the railway system of the Polish capital adjust the timetable to suit himself.
And now we know the main thing:
if a moose comes to the station without a ticket, for some reason it is not he who is delayed, but everyone else. 😄
