Around Grand Theft Auto VI a new wave of leaks has erupted—and, as has happened before with the most anticipated game of the decade, it is currently almost impossible to separate real materials from fakes.
THREAD 1/ Key features spotted in the leaked GTA 6 gameplay clips and map by "CyberLeek" (likely older dev footage):
Alleged gameplay fragments, images of the map, and claims that unknown parties have gained access to an internal build of the game have appeared online.
Some clips are spreading across social media at lightning speed, while others disappear in a matter of hours.
This is precisely what is fueling the interest.
What the videos show
In some fragments, one can see night driving through the city, shootouts, fights with NPCs, and car chases.
Music reminiscent of in-game GTA radio stations can also be heard.
The vehicle physics, in particular, have sparked a great deal of debate.
Some users compare it to Watch Dogs 2, while others are convinced that Rockstar is moving toward heavier and more realistic vehicle handling, reminiscent of the approach in Red Dead Redemption 2.
But there is a significant problem here.
No one knows for sure at what stage of development these materials were recorded.
Even if some of the videos are real, they may have been filmed using an old internal version of the game that is already significantly different from what players will ultimately see.
The map also raises questions
Along with the videos, another alleged map of GTA 6 is circulating.
Fans are trying to match roads, districts, and buildings with official Rockstar trailers, but there is no consensus.
Some elements look convincing.
Others look like a fan reconstruction assembled based on already known footage and earlier leaks.
Therefore, one should certainly not treat such images as the final map of the game just yet.
Where did Cyberleek come from
Some accounts are linking the new wave of materials to the hacker group Cyberleek.
At the same time, claims about gaining access to Rockstar's internal systems are spreading.
But there is not enough evidence for this yet.
Anonymous posts contradict each other, and some users are simply mixing current rumors with the story of the famous Rockstar hack in 2022.
Back then, the situation was completely different.
In September 2022, dozens of early GTA 6 videos and fragments of source code were indeed leaked online.
It was one of the largest gaming leaks in history.
The current situation is not even remotely confirmed at that level yet.
What does Rockstar India have to do with this?
A theory quickly emerged on social media that the source of the new leak could be the studio Rockstar India in Bengaluru.
Moreover, the accusations began to spread significantly faster than the evidence.
At the moment, there is no convincing confirmation that employees of the Indian division are actually involved in the distribution of the materials.
Therefore, this version remains just an internet speculation for now.
Rockstar is actively removing videos
The most interesting detail is the company's own reaction.
Some clips are indeed disappearing from platforms following copyright infringement complaints.
Because of this, many are concluding: since Rockstar is deleting the material, it must be real.
But it is not that simple.
A copyright holder can seek the removal of even those clips that contain official footage, re-edited fragments, or other protected materials.
Therefore, a copyright complaint in itself is not yet one hundred percent proof of the authenticity of the new leak.
Although, of course, it makes the situation much more interesting.
GTA 6 lives under a microscope
Perhaps no other game today is under such intense scrutiny.
Every blurry frame, strange screenshot, or few seconds of video is immediately analyzed pixel by pixel by thousands of people.
Fans compare lighting, interfaces, car models, buildings, and even character movement.
This is precisely why GTA 6 exists today in two versions at once.
There is the game that Rockstar is creating.
And there is a huge parallel GTA 6, which the internet builds daily from rumors, leaks, and conjectures.
What is known for sure
At the moment, only one thing can be said with certainty:
a new wave of alleged leaks has indeed appeared, but their origin, age, and authenticity remain unclear.
Some of the materials may turn out to be real.
Some may be old.
And some are quite capable of being high-quality fakes.
Therefore, for now, it is better to perceive what is happening not as a new confirmed hack of Rockstar, but as another round of information fever surrounding the most anticipated game in the world.
And, by all appearances, there will be quite a few more such stories before the release of GTA 6.
