In Montana, a woman fought off a moose... with bear spray.-1

A resident of Big Sky, Shelley Torbern, let her three dogs out into the yard and didn't notice that a cow moose with a calf was nearby. The dogs and the moose quickly spotted each other, and the mother decided that the uninvited guests had come too close to her baby, so the owner used a canister intended for protection against bears. The moose decided not to continue the conflict, and everyone came out unscathed. In other words, the product labeled "for bear" passed an unscheduled test on a moose.

"Oh, she's running straight at us"

Shelley tried to drive the animal away with shouts while simultaneously herding the dogs back into the house.

She was especially worried about 14-year-old Annie, an elderly dog who already has poor vision and hearing and therefore didn't understand at all why everyone suddenly decided to rush to flee.

And then the moose appeared from around the corner.

And not just appeared.

She charged straight at the woman and the dogs.

Ears pinned back, considerable speed, and a mood clearly not inclined toward negotiation.

Shelley tried to fight back and at one point even slapped the moose with her hand.

But the decisive argument turned out to be the can of bear spray.

There was no bear. The spray still came in handy

The woman sprayed the substance toward the attacking moose.

And it worked.

The moose stopped the attack and left with her calf, and Shelley managed to gather all three dogs and bring them inside. No one was hurt.

The whole scene was captured on a home security camera.

And now bear spray probably has a new line on its resume:

bears — yes.
moose — tested.
enraged mother moose — also.

The most important thing is that the story ended well.

But after such an outing into the yard, Shelley will probably look out the window first for a long time before telling the dogs:

"Well, shall we go for a walk?" 😄
