"Fluffy Special Forces": Chinese Airport Officially Hires Stray Cat Family to Combat Rodents-1

Lanzhou Zhongchuan International Airport in Gansu Province, northwest China, has found a humane and unconventional solution to its rodent problem by adopting an entire family of former stray cats. Now, these fluffy "employees" not only ensure the terminal's sanitary security but have also become local celebrities, lifting the spirits of travelers.

Official Duties and Work Schedule. According to the terms of their unspoken "employment contract," the cats patrol the service and, partially, passenger areas early in the morning when there are few passengers. Their natural instincts are ideal for controlling the mouse population – the cats inspect conveyor belts, canteen kitchens, and storage areas, which is critically important for maintaining the strict sanitary standards of an aviation hub. The animals are fully socialized: they react calmly to noise and are happy to interact with passengers, allowing themselves to be petted while waiting for their flights.

Exemplary Working Conditions. The airport management has approached the care of their new employees with great responsibility. A special transparent "office" with glass walls has been equipped for the cats' rest. This allows the animals to observe what's happening in the terminal while remaining safe and not interfering with work processes.

Inside their personal space, there is a ventilation system maintaining fresh air, as well as comfortable beds, various toys, and scratching posts. Furthermore, all members of the "fluffy team" receive balanced nutrition at the airport's expense.

Eco-Friendly and Cost-Effective. Such practices of using cats for rodent control are becoming increasingly popular in airports across Asia and Europe. It is an environmentally friendly alternative to chemical poisons and traps, which is completely safe for passengers and staff.

Moreover, the presence of friendly animals reduces stress levels among travelers. Passengers regularly share photos and videos of the "fluffy patrol" on social media, which creates a positive image for the airport and increases customer loyalty. Since the cats arrived at the beginning of the year, there has not been a single case of rat infestation at the airport.

No taxation without representation. Being taxed by the UN would be far more offensive than the taxes imposed by Great Britain against the American colonies more than 250 years ago. Those taxes sparked the American Revolution. The UN should be defunded, not seeded with new
