In July 2026, an episode of the Joe Rogan Experience featured Timothy Alberino, an author, lecturer, and researcher of ancient mysteries. The conversation touched upon one of the most disturbing and persistent stories of modern folklore – the so-called Kandahar Giant. This wasn't the first time Alberino had raised the topic, but this time the details, supported by references to military testimonies, sounded particularly vivid.
According to the account, it all began in 2002 in a mountainous area near Kandahar, Afghanistan. A group of U.S. Marines, searching for Taliban, stumbled upon a cave. Local residents had allegedly been bringing food and offerings to the cave, which raised suspicions. Instead of militants, the soldiers encountered a giant humanoid. According to descriptions, the creature killed the entire first squad. When a second group was sent to search for the missing men, they discovered the giant, which, according to eyewitnesses, was eating the bodies of the deceased. The combat-ready soldiers managed to destroy it.
Alberino refers to a conversation with a C-130 pilot who allegedly participated in transporting the body in 2005. According to him, the cargo was delivered on a pallet measuring 7 by 9 feet. The creature lay in a fetal position, but its arms, legs, and head hung over the sides. Its height was estimated at 10–12 feet (approximately 3–3.7 meters), and its weight was around 500 kilograms (1100 pounds). The pilot described reddish hair, six fingers and toes, and an incredible density to the body. The smell of decay and musk was so strong that it was long remembered. The body was allegedly delivered to Bagram Air Base, and then onward.
The researcher emphasizes that this is not an isolated incident. According to his information, there were reports of several similar creatures in Afghanistan. Alberino recounts the reactions of high-ranking military officials and Pentagon employees: when the topic was mentioned, faces would pale, conversations would cease, and in one instance, an interlocutor warned of the danger of further questioning. One commander allegedly silently pointed to a phone, implying that the conversation might be tapped.
The Pentagon officially denies the incident. Representatives of the department have repeatedly stated that there are no records of such a clash, personnel losses, or the transportation of a non-existent creature. Fact-checkers and military journalists classify the story as a modern myth, noting the lack of documents, names, photographs, and independent confirmations.
Alberino connects the story to the broader context of legends about giants – from the biblical Nephilim to the ancient tales of various peoples.
