Usually, when a man proposes marriage, all the attention goes to the future bride.
A beautiful ring, a romantic atmosphere, excitement, hugs and happy tears.
But one American decided that such an important family moment shouldn't leave out another close being.
The dog!
And so, after proposing to the woman he loves, the man decided to make a separate proposal to their four-legged pet.
What's more, he got down on one knee before it in complete earnest!
A ring for the bride, a treat for the dog!
An American woman, Jenna Pitzer, shared an incredibly sweet and at the same time funny video on social media.
Her fiancé understands so well what place in the family is occupied by the dog named Gusthat he decided to include him in the romantic ceremony.
Gus is a charming Labrador mix with an expressive little face and characteristic light markings above his eyes.
And, judging by everything, he knows his own worth perfectly well!
After proposing to Jenna, the man lowered himself onto one knee before the dog and held out a gift to him.
True, instead of a diamond ring, his hand held an ordinary dog treat.
Gus, of course, said yes.
But the creators of the video joked that the dog remained a little disappointed.
Why was the lady given a beautiful ring, while he was offered nothing but an edible gift?!
Where is the justice?
Where is the equality?
And most importantly — where is his personal jeweler? 😂
The internet demanded a second ring!
Social media users really liked the idea.
After all, many dog owners truly consider their pets full-fledged members of the family.
Which means important family events should involve them too!
Some viewers jokingly suggested that now the groom will have to buy a second wedding ring.
Others decided that Gus absolutely must be present at the wedding.
And not just sitting next to the guests.
He could very well become the chief master of ceremonies!
For example, walking down the aisle with the rings.
Or greeting the guests.
Or better yet — personally checking the quality of the wedding treats.
The last option in particular would probably appeal to Gus more than any other!
And what will happen at the wedding itself?
Picture the ceremony.
The bride in a white dress.
The groom in an elegant suit.
The guests watch what is happening with tender emotion.
And suddenly Gus appears.
In a tiny tuxedo, with a bow tie and a completely serious expression on his mug.
The officiant says:
"Do you agree to take this woman as your lawful wife?"
"I do!"
"And do you agree to feed Gus for the rest of your life, walk him, and give up your spot on the couch to him?"
"Uh..."
"Woof! Answer the question!" 🤣
And then it turns out that the dog has a whole list of additional demands.
A separate spot in the wedding photos.
His own festive cake made from dog-approved ingredients.
And, of course, the right to be the first to choose the honeymoon destination!
When love is truly a family affair
In fact, behind this funny story lies a very touching idea.
The man didn't just prepare a romantic proposal for his beloved.
He showed that he accepts and loves her whole family, including her four-legged pet.
It is precisely such small but sincere gestures that sometimes stick in the memory far more than the most expensive gifts.
All the more so since Gus seems to have already given his consent to the upcoming wedding.
True, the question of the wedding ring remains open!
And if the groom wants to avoid a family scandal, perhaps he really should prepare something special for the dog.
For example, a beautiful collar with the inscription:

And the main thing is that now the man knows for sure he isn't marrying just one woman.
