Honor has officially unveiled the Magic V6, a foldable smartphone that reached European markets on July 2, 2026, following a slightly earlier launch in Germany on July 1. The device was in development for several months and was first showcased at MWC Barcelona in March before its initial release in China this past June. Its primary selling points include an exceptionally thin profile, a record-breaking battery for its class, and integrated AI features powered by Google Gemini.

Positioned as the successor to the Magic V series, the Magic V6 is a direct challenger to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, Google Pixel 10 Pro Fold, and Xiaomi Mix Fold. In Spain, the recommended retail price is €2,299; however, a launch promotion running until July 31 offers a €600 discount coupon, bringing the price down to €1,699. German buyers receive further incentives, such as an Honor Pad 10 tablet and two years of display protection. Bonus structures vary across other European nations; in the UK, for example, customers can choose between a productivity bundle including a Magic-Pen, headphones, and two-year protection, or an entertainment package featuring a projector and headphones. These offers are valid until the end of July 2026.

When folded, the Magic V6 measures 8.75mm, slimming down to 4.0mm when unfolded (for the white version) and weighing in at 219 grams. The chassis is protected by IP68 and IP69 certifications—a rare combination even for standard smartphones and a first for the foldable segment. The device features a 6.52-inch external display and a 7.95-inch internal flexible screen, both of which offer 120Hz refresh rates and peak brightness levels of 6,000 nits (external) and 5,000 nits (internal). The Honor Super Steel Hinge, enhanced by an AI-based load distribution system, is rated for 500,000 folds. Both screens are protected by specialized silicon nitride glass with an anti-reflective coating.

The 6,660 mAh battery is the largest available in a foldable smartphone at the time of launch. Silicon-carbon technology was utilized with an energy density of 921 Wh/L, allowing this high-capacity battery to be packed into such a thin body. The phone supports 80W wired, 66W wireless, and reverse wireless charging. It also passed the TÜV Rheinland endurance test for 24-hour operation in its internal screen mode. Powered by a 3nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 processor, the device features 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 512GB of UFS 4.1 storage.

The main camera system includes a 50MP sensor with optical image stabilization, a 64MP periscope telephoto lens (1/2-inch sensor, also with OIS), and a 50MP ultra-wide module. The Honor AI Falcon system provides tools for color grading, AI-based video generation, and frame expansion. Running MagicOS 10 on Android 16, the device includes AI agents for system optimization, photo processing, and smart suggestions, along with deep Google Gemini integration for real-time camera image analysis and screen-sharing capabilities.

A unique highlight is the device's cross-ecosystem compatibility with Apple products. The Magic V6 syncs with iPhones, Macs, AirPods, and Apple Watches, allowing for one-tap file sharing, notification syncing, and the ability to use the foldable as an extended display for a Mac. This is a rare approach for an Android device, clearly targeting users already embedded in the Apple ecosystem.

Honor is promising seven years of annual Android updates and security patches for devices sold in the EU and UK, matching the level of support offered by Samsung and Google and significantly outperforming Chinese competitors. This radically changes the smartphone's value proposition: a device that remains up-to-date until 2033 is no longer a speculative purchase but a long-term investment.

There are some downsides: independent tests have yet to confirm real-world daily battery life, although lab results are impressive, and only the 16/512GB configuration is available in Europe. Compared to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 7, the Magic V6 wins on thickness (8.75mm vs. 8.9mm), battery capacity (6,660 mAh vs. 4,400 mAh), and long-term support, but it falls short of Samsung's established app ecosystem and the deep level of integration with Samsung's own suite of gadgets.

The Magic V6 is well worth considering for those seeking the thinnest and most durable foldable smartphone with an unprecedented battery, who are willing to pay for premium design and prioritize long-term software support. This is an especially attractive deal for European buyers who can take advantage of the €1,700 price point through the end of July.
