Atlético's victory over Levante (0:2) at the Ciudad de Valencia looks not merely like another result but like a signal: Diego Simeone's team is once again proving that it knows how to turn difficult away trips into the foundation of leadership. Two goals — from Gramado and Giuliano Simeone — and a seventh consecutive league win took the Madrid side to first place with 28 points.
The history of encounters with Levante has always been difficult for Atlético: away at the Valencians, the rojiblancos often dropped points or conceded unexpected goals. This time everything turned out differently. Already in the first half Gramado capitalised on a defensive error and struck the goal with a powerful shot, and after the break Giuliano finished off an elegant combination involving Baena.
Tactically, Atlético showed maturity: after a nervous start the team took control, used the width of the pitch and counter-attacks. Levante tried to press in the opening minutes but quickly ran out of steam. Oblak kept his goal untouched, and the elder Simeone brought his tally of La Liga wins to 344 — drawing level with Luis Aragonés's record.
Particularly noteworthy is how the team uses individual qualities: Gramado on the left flank has become a real weapon, and the young Giuliano is proving that he inherits not only the surname but also the character. Baena remains a key creator of attacks — his passes in the second half proved decisive.
This result is not just three points. It shows that Atlético is capable of combining stern defence with creativity in attack, and that Simeone continues to build a dynasty in which every match serves a long-term goal. Ahead lies a week with Bayern and Barcelona, and the leadership gives a moral advantage.
The victory in Valencia is a reminder: in football, perseverance and systematic work often outweigh individual talents. Atlético is once again proving that leadership is not an accident but a habit.
