Emirates Named World's Best Airline for 13th Consecutive Year as Massive Transformation Gains Momentum-1

At the Business Traveller Middle East Awards 2026 on June 23rd, Emirates once again cemented its position as the industry leader, taking home "Best Airline Worldwide" for the 13th year in a row, as well as being recognized for the Middle East’s Best First Class and Best Lounge for its premier First Class Lounge at Dubai International.

The winners are chosen by the readers of Business Traveller Middle East, making the results a direct reflection of the actual experiences of frequent corporate flyers. The voting criteria underscore the specific service quality and reliability that business travelers prioritize. Adnan Kazim, Deputy President and Chief Commercial Officer of Emirates, accepted all three awards on the company's behalf.

Supporting these consecutive wins is a massive fleet transformation initiative. Two hundred and nineteen Airbus A380 and Boeing 777 aircraft are undergoing a total cabin overhaul, while the addition of new Airbus A350s is actively broadening the airline's route network. These retrofitted aircraft and the new A350s currently serve more than 70 destinations, delivering a cohesive, world-class passenger experience through upgraded cabins, modern technology, and a unified service standard across all Dubai-bound routes, regardless of the class or aircraft model.

The First Class offering remains a benchmark of luxury, featuring private suites with lie-flat beds, gourmet à la carte menus with regional delicacies, and bottomless caviar served with Dom Pérignon, along with exclusive amenity kits from Bulgari and Byredo and the A380's signature Shower Spa and Onboard Lounge. Complimentary chauffeur-drive services are offered at nearly 90 destinations, while priority airport services and dedicated Emirates lounges are available in over 30 cities worldwide. The three First Class Lounges at Dubai International Airport provide à la carte dining, spa treatments, luxury duty-free shopping, and direct gate access—facilities that define the gold standard for travelers who value the entire journey, from departure to arrival.

Investments to enhance the passenger experience are accelerating rapidly. Starlink is already operational on 36 aircraft, allowing passengers to stream, browse, work, and use social media in real-time for free across all cabins. Emirates and SpaceX aim to outfit the entire 232-aircraft fleet, including Boeing 777s and Airbus A380s, with this high-speed satellite service within the next two years. In December 2025, the airline began broadcasting Live TV via Starlink to passengers' personal devices, with seatback screen integration coming soon. Additionally, the airline introduced its Comprehensive Travel Cover, a pioneering industry-first insurance scheme designed to provide extra security for travelers. This October, a daily service to Helsinki will launch using the modern A350, creating Finland’s only year-round direct connection to the UAE and catering to a growing corridor of leisure and business travelers seeking an alternative to indirect routes via other European hubs.

This comprehensive modernization strategy—spanning everything from cabin upgrades to groundbreaking services in the air and on the ground—explains why Emirates continues to dominate the highly competitive premium travel sector. By constantly evolving its product offering and route network through heavy investment in infrastructure and staff development, the airline stays ahead of passenger expectations and effectively meets the shifting demands of the business travel market.
