Nikolaj Coster-Waldau Attends Comic Con Astana

נערך על ידי: Svitlana Velhush

Comic Con Astana 2026 took place from August 6 to 9 at two major venues: Barys Arena and the Alau Ice Palace.

Nikolaj Coster-Waldau was announced as the festival's first headliner. He is renowned not only for his portrayal of Jaime Lannister in "Game of Thrones" but also for his work in films like "Oblivion," "Gods of Egypt," and "Black Hawk Down."

The festival drew thousands of fans of cinema, TV series, comics, anime, video games, and cosplay.

Fan Encounters

The actor participated in a press conference, a Q&A session, and a special SUPER FAN meeting. On the Barys Arena stage, he appeared in a traditional Kazakh chapane, which elicited an enthusiastic reaction from the audience.

An open autograph session, accessible to all festivalgoers, took place on August 7.

😊 Impressions of Kazakhstan

The actor quipped that he hadn't eaten as much meat in the past three years as he did in just over 24 hours in Astana. He visited the Baiterek Monument, placed his hand on the "golden palm print," and made a wish to return to Kazakhstan again.

Coster-Waldau expressed admiration for the landscapes of Mangystau and a desire to explore Kazakh cinema.

Kazakhstan on the "Game of Thrones" Map

When asked about Kazakhstan's potential location in the world of Westeros, the actor placed it between the Lannister domains and Dothraki territories. According to him, the country would become a "territory of diplomacy," which both powerful neighbors would consider their best friend.

This resulted in a truly heartwarming story: the Hollywood star didn't merely fulfill his schedule but genuinely took an interest in Kazakhstan's culture and nature. It serves as an excellent example of how geek culture brings people together worldwide!
