On September 22, 2026, OPPO will present the Watch S2 smartwatch in China. The new product retains the round design of its predecessor, but gains improved sensors and a FatMax mode for personalized fat burning.
With a case thickness of 8,9 mm and a weight of 34,4 g without the strap, it remains one of the thinnest among round models. The screen is a 1,46-inch AMOLED with a resolution of 464 × 464 pixels and a peak brightness of up to 3000 nits in workout mode. The watch is available in Vibrant Orange, Misty Powder and Mountain Shadow Grey, while the double-link strap ensures comfort during movement, sleep and everyday wear.
The main innovation is FatMax mode. The algorithm calculates an individual zone of maximum fat oxidation based on height, weight, age, sex and activity, then refines the data as it is used. During a workout, the number of grams of fat burned is displayed in real time. According to OPPO, at an average heart rate of 132 beats per minute, 20,2 g of fat is burned in the same time versus 7,6 g in the high-intensity zone. The mode supports more than 16 types of activity.
Health is tracked by a flagship sensor unit: an ECG in 30 seconds with a Class II medical device certificate, wrist temperature measurement, SpO2 and heart rate. The optical sensor has become 75 % more resistant to interference, and heart rate accuracy under exertion is claimed at 98,8 %. In addition, a 60-second wellness check and sleep apnea risk assessment are available.
Battery life reaches 10 days in maximum mode, 7 days with normal use and 4 days with Always-On Display. Charging takes about 90 minutes. The watch supports simultaneous connection to two smartphones and the Fluid Cloud system for delivery, taxi and navigation notifications. Water resistance is 5 ATM.
Price and global availability have not yet been announced; the predecessor Watch S started at 1299 yuan. Compared with competitors in the segment up to 1500 yuan, the Watch S2 stands out for its combination of a thin case, fat-burning visualization and ECG medical certification, although independent sensor accuracy tests have not yet been conducted.
For those looking for a lightweight watch with an emphasis on effective workouts and reliable health monitoring without frequent charging, the Watch S2 will be an interesting option in the Chinese segment.
