On 27 October 2026, Apple announced the release of an updated 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M6 chip. The laptop gained support for Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 6, while its claimed battery life reaches 24 hours — the most among all Macs.

The M6 chip is Apple's first on a 2-nm process. It is equipped with a 12-core CPU (two super cores, four performance cores and six efficiency cores) and a 12-core GPU. Compared with the M5, graphics are 30 % faster and AI tasks are 25 % faster. Memory bandwidth has increased to 170 GB/s. The base configuration includes 16 GB of unified memory and a 1 TB SSD.

The design, Liquid Retina XDR display and ports remain the same: HDMI, MagSafe 3, three Thunderbolt 4, an SDXC slot and a headphone jack. The camera is 12 MP with Center Stage. Charging to 50 % takes about 30 minutes with a 96 W adapter. The laptop is available in Space Black and Silver.

Pricing starts at 1999 dollars for the version with 16 GB of memory and a 1 TB drive. Pre-orders will open on 28 October, with sales on 6 November. Memory can be increased to 32 GB, and storage to 4 TB.

Compared with its predecessor on the M5, the new product is noticeably ahead in graphics, AI and wireless connectivity. However, the 16-inch Pro models still remain on the M5 Pro and M5 Max chips. There are no direct comparisons with competitors at the time of the announcement, but the M6 MacBook Pro is positioned as an affordable option for students, creators and users for whom battery life and on-device AI performance matter.

This update delivers a noticeable gain in everyday tasks and battery life without changing the chassis or the screen.
