Apple plans HomeView Max with a 9-inch rotating display

Apple is developing a premium version of its HomeView smart hub with a 9-inch display on a robotic arm capable of rotating 360 degrees. According to Bloomberg, the device will be called HomeView Max, HomeView Ultra, or HomeView 360 — the final name has not yet been confirmed.

Unlike the already-announced model with a fixed 7-inch Liquid Retina screen, the new device will be able to turn automatically toward the speaker thanks to voice recognition. This will eliminate the need to manually move the device or walk up to it during video calls and interactions with Siri AI.

The current HomeView costs 299 dollars, preorders are open, and shipments will begin on 13 November 2026. The premium version with a robotic mechanism is not expected before 2027–2028. The project's internal codename is J595. Apple engineers are encountering difficulties in developing the motor system.

Compared with the base model, the HomeView Max will offer a larger screen and active tracking of users in the room. However, the exact specifications of the processor, camera, battery capacity, and price have not yet been disclosed. The device is positioned as an addition to the existing lineup rather than a replacement.

Among the closest competitors is the Amazon Echo Show with rotating screens, but Apple is emphasizing integration with Apple Intelligence and privacy. The expected price of around 1000 dollars makes the new device significantly more expensive than the standard model.

For now, this is only a rumor from Mark Gurman; there is no official confirmation from Apple. If the robotic version does appear, it will be a notable step in the evolution of smart home displays, but it will take at least a year to arrive.
