A Mountain Triumph and a French Dream: The Tour de France Femmes Enters Its Decisive Phase-1

The 2026 Tour de France Femmes avec Zwift will take place from August 1 to 9. The fifth edition of the race will start in Lausanne, Switzerland, and finish in Nice on the French Riviera. In total, the athletes will have to overcome nine stages on the roads of Switzerland and France.

The route promises to be one of the most diverse in the tournament's history: three flat stages, three hilly stages, two mountain stages, and an individual time trial of 21 kilometers. The participants will pass through the Jura, Massif Central, and the Alps. One of the decisive challenges will be the finish on the legendary Mont Ventoux, where the battle for the general classification could change literally within a few kilometers.

154 cyclists from 22 teams will start. Among the main contenders for victory are the reigning champion Pauline Ferrand-Prévot, Demi Vollering, Marlen Reusser, and Annemiek van Vleuten. Vollering already won the Tour in 2023 and now aims to regain the yellow jersey.

The race will begin on August 1 with a circuit stage around Lausanne, after which the peloton will travel from Évian-les-Bains to Geneva. After crossing into France, the athletes will face Poligny, Dijon, Beaujolais, the Massif Central, and the Alps. The final two days will lead the participants through Sisteron to Nice, where the winner will be determined on August 9.

The women's Tour de France is no longer an addition to the men's race but an independent event of global scale. The best sprinters, climbers, and time trial specialists meet here, and each stage is capable of producing a new hero.

From August 1 to 9, the roads of Switzerland and France will once again become the arena for great cycling drama – with records, crashes, unexpected attacks, and the battle for the main yellow jersey in women's cycling.

THE YELLOW JERSEY, FRENCH STYLE: THE FERRAND-PRÉVOT PHENOMENON

Pauline Ferrand-Prévot in the yellow jersey is more than just leadership in the general classification. It is the embodiment of a dream that has materialized on the winding serpentines of the French mountains. A rider who, just a few years ago, dominated in mountain biking and cyclocross, is now writing her name in golden letters in the history of road grand tours.

Her style is not just speed; it's poetry in motion. On climbs, she seems to float over her bike, each pedal stroke measured to the millimeter, each attack calculated to the second. Ferrand-Prévot doesn't just ride – she conducts the race, making her rivals dance to her melody.
