Alcaraz completes a perfect season at ATP 500 level with victory in Vienna

Carlos Alcaraz did not merely take the title in Vienna — he confirmed that at ATP 500 level there is no longer anyone his equal. In the final 1 November the Spaniard dismantled Alex de Minaur with a score of 6:1, 6:4 and extended his unbeaten run at tournaments of this category to 26 matches.

The 2026 season was not an easy one for Alcaraz: after the Australian Open came a four-month pause due to a wrist injury. His return in Doha and Tokyo had already shown that the Spaniard was back in his former form. Vienna became the logical continuation — his fourth title of the year and a perfect 16:0 at ATP 500 level.

The key to success in the Austrian capital lay not only in his strokes. Alcaraz had often complained before about heavy, slow balls indoors. Here he decided simply to accept the conditions and to rebuild his serve even before the tournament. The result — a 81 percent of points won on first serve in the final and not a single set lost all week.

De Minaur, for whom this was already the seventh consecutive defeat by Alcaraz, resisted longer in the second set but could not turn the tide. The Spaniard took the key points at the decisive moments, while the Australian again remained without a single break.

The victory in Vienna is not just statistics. It shows how Alcaraz has learned to turn potential weaknesses into an advantage. After the injury he returned not merely strong, but a more mature player who does not complain about the conditions but uses them.

Now the 23-year-old Spaniard heads with confidence to the Paris Masters and to the season-ending tournament in Turin. His run at ATP 500 has already become historic, and the question of whether anyone can stop this charge remains open until next season.
