Hilary Swank Reveals How Her Twins Reacted to the News of a Little Brother: “Aaah, Is It in There?”

On 22 October, on the Question Everything podcast, Hilary Swank told how her three-year-old twins — daughter Aya and son Ohm — took the news that in December they would be getting a little brother or sister. The actress, who is 52 years old, is expecting her third child with her husband Philip Schneider and shared the most touching details.

Daughter Aya, according to Swank, is usually not the kind of girl who coos “aaah.” She is more likely to growl and “go into her body,” as her mother puts it. But when she was told about the baby, the reaction turned out to be completely different: “Aaah, is it in there?” — and immediately delight. Son Ohm did not hide his joy either. The children immediately began asking when the new arrival would come.

Since then, every time Swank leaves the house and comes back, the twins greet her with the question: “Is the baby here yet?” The actress explained to them that the child will be born by Christmas, but that only increased their impatience. Every morning the children wake up with the same thing: “Is it Christmas yet?”

What is more, the little ones now tell everyone they meet about the coming addition. In restaurants they go up to other children and say: “Can I tell you something? My mom has a baby in her tummy, and it’s coming at Christmas.” Swank called it a “millionth” moment — sincere and with no censorship at all.

The actress announced the pregnancy news on 14 October on Instagram with a funny video in which the whole family dances in the dark with glow sticks. On Swank’s belly is taped a tiny “baby” glow stick. “A lot of people ask what project I’m working on next,” she wrote. “This one comes out in December.”

For Swank, who gave birth to the twins at 48 after freezing her eggs, this is already her second stage of motherhood. She has said more than once that she became a parent later precisely because now she can devote herself fully to her children. Aya and Ohm’s reaction only confirmed it: the family is ready for a new stage with pure childlike joy.

In the end, the story about the “little brother” turned into not just a family anecdote, but a reminder of how sincerely and without regard to age or public opinion children take in the arrival of a new person in the home.
