Bitcoin ETFs: Three Days of Inflows and the Question of Trust in Digital Gold

Edited by: Yuliya Shumai

In three days, spot Bitcoin ETFs have attracted over $368 million in net capital. The last outflow was recorded on July 13, and now the numbers are growing: July 16 - $221.7 million, the day before - $108 million, and the day before that - $181 million. SoSoValue data shows a return of interest, which coincided with a brief return of the Bitcoin price above $65,000.

June brought an outflow of $4.51 billion, and May - $2.4 billion. Three days of inflows are only 8 percent of June's losses and about 15 percent of May's. The cumulative net inflow since the launch of ETFs has reached $51.2 billion, and assets under management - $77.7 billion. If the trend holds, July could become the first month with a positive balance since April, when funds raised $1.97 billion.

Behind the numbers is not just statistics, but a shift in sentiment. Institutional players, who were previously withdrawing funds, are now returning when the price gives a signal. This is reminiscent of how a river, after a drought, starts to flow again: it didn't disappear, it was just waiting for the right channel. Retail investors see ETFs as a simple way to add Bitcoin to their portfolios without wallets and keys, but they remain tied to traditional markets and their fluctuations.

The hidden interest here is in the balance between the desire to diversify and the fear of missing out. When the price rises, inflows increase; when it falls, outflows accelerate. This cyclicality repeats old patterns: people tend to buy at the peak and sell at the bottom, even if the instrument is called "digital gold." ETFs only simplify access, but they don't change psychology.

For the average person, this is a signal to reconsider what portion of their portfolio they are willing to allocate to an asset whose value depends on news and sentiment. Three days of inflows do not guarantee a trend, but they show that capital is voting for the continuation of the story. The question is whether an investor is ready to stay in the game when the flow changes back to an outflow.
