Boeing Workers End Seven-Week Strike with New Labor Contract Approval

On November 5, 2024, Boeing workers in the United States voted to accept a new labor contract, effectively ending a seven-week strike that significantly disrupted the production of the 737 Max and 777 aircraft. The International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers (IAM) reported that 59 percent of its members approved the agreement.

The new contract includes a 38 percent pay increase over the next four years, a one-time bonus of $12,000, and modifications to retirement plans. Approximately 33,000 employees in the Seattle area are expected to return to work as early as Wednesday.

This resolution comes after union members previously rejected two offers from Boeing. The strike has added to a challenging year for the company, which has faced substantial financial losses and scrutiny following a midflight incident in January involving an aircraft losing a door panel.
