Macapá Launches First Free EV Charging Station

November 16, 2024, Brazil - The Cea Equatorial is constructing Macapá's first electric vehicle (EV) charging station at the Santa Inês Pier in the southern zone of the city. This initiative is part of a research, development, and innovation program by the National Electric Energy Agency (Aneel), with a total investment of R$ 120,000 for two charging points.

The charging station is expected to open next month and will operate 24 hours a day, accommodating two vehicles with charging times ranging from 3 to 6 hours, depending on the car model. Each charging point will provide 23W of power.

The facility will utilize a photovoltaic system to generate clean, renewable energy for EVs, aiming to reduce carbon emissions associated with traditional vehicles.
