A small car-sized unidentified object was spotted in Sooke, Canada, on January 8, 2025, around 4 p.m. Witness Alexandra Cottingham reported seeing a 'massive drone' silently flying above her while driving on Grant Road.
The object was described as slow-moving, dark grey or black, without flashing lights or visible markings. Cottingham noted its height was comparable to hydro lines, leading her to initially believe it was a plane.
Other witnesses corroborated sightings, with one stating they had never seen a plane that size flying so low. An online flight tracker indicated only a passenger plane was in the area at that time, but it was not in the same direction as the unidentified object.
Despite inquiries, NAV Canada could not confirm the object's presence, and Maritime Forces Pacific stated they had no drones matching the description and were not conducting activities that day.
