Moscow Longevity Project Enhances Mental Health for Seniors Through Psychology Classes

The Moscow Longevity project is making strides in enhancing the mental well-being of senior citizens through organized psychology classes. These classes provide a platform for participants to analyze various life situations, from conflict resolution to maintaining motivation for personal development.

According to Vladimir Filippov, Deputy Head of the Department of Labor and Social Protection of the Population of the City of Moscow, psychology classes have emerged as an alternative to personal therapy for older adults. Many seniors experience an increase in psychological needs, seeking to rethink their lives, strengthen familial relationships, and realize their importance. A recent study conducted with the Research Institute of Health Organization and Medical Management revealed that participants have a positive attitude towards these psychological trainings, indicating a strong trust in the program.

Currently, over 300 psychology groups are active, attended by more than 19,000 seniors. The topics discussed are tailored to the participants' requests, ensuring relevance and engagement. Olga Dobrynina, a psychology teacher at the Silver University of the Moscow Longevity project, emphasized that the classes not only benefit the older generation but also positively influence their children and grandchildren, fostering better communication and relationships within families.

Research findings indicate that participants in the Moscow Longevity project exhibit a higher mental well-being index and are less prone to anxiety. An impressive 76% of respondents feel confident in their mental health, attributing their well-being to personal development and cognitive engagement.

All interested seniors are encouraged to join the Moscow Longevity classes, which offer over 40 types of activities, from vocal training to computer graphics. Those wishing to participate can sign up through the mos.ru portal or visit any Moscow longevity center.
