Volvo EVs to Charge at Tesla Superchargers Starting November 18

Volvo announced that its electric vehicles will be able to charge at over 17,800 Tesla Supercharger stations across the US and Canada starting November 18, 2024. This integration aims to enhance charging accessibility for Volvo drivers, who already have access to numerous fast charge points.

Volvo drivers can locate Tesla Superchargers using the Volvo Cars app or built-in Google Maps. Charging sessions can also be paid for through the Volvo Cars app.

To use Tesla Superchargers and other North American Charging Standard (NACS) chargers, existing Volvo EV owners will require an adapter priced at $230 ($310 CAD), available for order from authorized retailers. These adapters will begin shipping on November 18, with those for the EX30 model to be released at a later date. However, customers purchasing the new EX90 flagship SUV, EX40, or EC40 starting in model year 2025 will receive the adapter included with their vehicle.

This development follows Volvo's commitment in June 2023 to support Tesla Superchargers and the NACS, aligning with a broader industry trend towards standardized EV charging solutions in North America.
