Zinapécuaro, Michoacán, April 5: Mexico has initiated the 'Harvesting Sovereignty' program, aimed at enhancing food self-sufficiency and sovereignty. This initiative provides support to small-scale farmers to increase domestic production for national consumption.
The program offers comprehensive assistance, including guidance, loans with a maximum interest rate of 8.5% for production expansion, insurance against droughts, frosts, or floods, and guaranteed fair-price marketing for harvested products.
The goal is to improve national production, particularly of staples like corn and beans, ensuring that Mexico produces what its citizens consume, thereby strengthening the domestic market against global trade policies.
