The switch to winter time every year causes discontent among millions of people. Some complain about their disrupted sleep schedule, others cannot get used to the early dusk, and still others simply do not understand why clocks need to be changed at all.
But, as it turned out, among the opponents of this tradition there are also four-legged ones!
In the US, a real internet star has become a four-year-old donkey named Piti, who categorically refused to put up with the new schedule.
And the reason for his indignation turned out to be perfectly understandable.
His dinner was delayed by a whole hour!
🕕 What clocks? Where is my food?!
On 1 November, the US turned the clocks back an hour, completing the daylight saving time period.
People got the opportunity to sleep longer, but pets turned out to be completely unprepared for such changes.
Especially Piti.
The donkey was used to receiving his evening portion of food strictly on schedule.
And he had absolutely no intention of changing his habits just because some people decided to move the clock hands!
When his usual feeding time arrived, the owners were in no hurry to bring dinner.
By the new time, it was still early.
But try explaining that to a hungry donkey!
Piti decided that his rights had been grossly violated and put on a real concert.
He brayed loudly, demanded attention, and with his whole appearance demonstrated extreme indignation at what was happening.
The owners filmed the protest and shared it online.
In the caption, they explained that Piti knows nothing about the switch to winter time.
He knows only one thing: dinner should have appeared long ago!
😂 A donkey against time zones
What makes it especially funny is that, from Piti's point of view, the situation really did look completely unfair.
Yesterday he was fed on time.
The day before yesterday too.
And for four whole years there had been no problems at all!
And now suddenly they suggest waiting another hour.
And without explanations, compensation, or extra portions of carrots!
Imagine if the donkey could talk.
— Piti, calm down! We changed the clocks!
— So what?!
— Dinner is now an hour later!
— Then why didn't you move my bowl closer to me right away?!
— That's how the time system works!
— I'm not interested in your system! I'm interested in my dinner! 🤣
🐴 Why don't animals like the clock change?
In fact, Piti's behaviour is perfectly understandable.
Domestic animals quickly get used to a certain daily routine.
They remember the time for feeding, walks, and their owners' return home.
What's more, they navigate not by the wall clock, but by internal biological rhythms and familiar environmental cues.
That is why the clock change changes nothing for them.
The body keeps expecting food at the usual moment.
And if the owners are suddenly late, the animal may start to get nervous or demand attention.
In Piti's case, all of this expressed itself in a particularly loud protest.
And, it must be admitted, the donkey managed to express his opinion far more convincingly than many people!
🥕 It's time for Piti to lead the movement against the clock change!
Internet users discussed the video with great enthusiasm.
After all, many pet owners know perfectly well that domestic pets take the feeding schedule far more seriously than people take the work schedule.
Especially when it comes to dinner.
And if the owner is even a few minutes late, he may already be met with a displeased look, loud meowing, barking, or, as in Piti's case, a full-fledged donkey siren.
It seems the opponents of seasonal clock changes have found their perfect representative.
He doesn't need complex economic arguments, scientific research, or hours-long debates.
He has just one demand: put dinner back where it belongs!
And, perhaps, this is the most understandable slogan in the entire history of the debate about changing the clocks.
Incidentally, Piti also has an obvious solution to the problem.
Instead of switching the donkey to a new schedule, the owners could gradually change the feeding time.
But just try explaining that necessity to someone who has been certain for four whole years that the world exists solely for the sake of his evening portion of food!
So, people turned the clocks back an hour, and Piti decided that civilization had finally gone completely mad.
And now he demands that justice be restored.
Preferably immediately. And with an extra carrot as compensation for moral damages!
