On 4 October, US President Donald Trump announced the formation of a new body — the Super Intelligence Force, or SIF.
According to him, the group will coordinate the federal government's work in the field of superintelligence. It will ensure interaction between the authorities and consumers, public and religious organizations, critical infrastructure providers, and companies developing this technology.
The decision followed a meeting at the White House with the heads of leading technology companies, who signed an agreement on responsibility to the American people.
The SIF will be headed by Director of National Intelligence Jay Clayton, Federal Trade Commission Chairman Andrew Ferguson, Pentagon Chief Technology Officer Emil Michael, and Office of Personnel Management Director Scott Kupor.
They will report directly to President Trump and White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles.
Clayton previously told The Wall Street Journal that within 120 days the group will prepare a report assessing the risks and opportunities of superintelligence, as well as recommendations on the government's role in this area.
Earlier, Trump signed an order replacing the term "artificial intelligence" with "superintelligence" in official documents.
