Dyson has officially entered the oral care market. The company has introduced its first electric toothbrush, the CameraJet model.
The new product is priced at $499,99. It is already available in the US in Ceramic Ultra Blue and Ceramic Pink colors.
The key feature is a built-in camera with a macro lens of 100 thousand pixels. It analyzes 28 images per second and, using the Gap Optical Targeting algorithm based on machine learning, identifies gaps between teeth.
As soon as the system detects a gap, the toothbrush releases a precise stream of mouth rinse in a fraction of a second to remove plaque. Users can watch the process in real time through the MyDyson app.
Development took six years. About 470 thousand dental images were used to train the AI. Images from the camera are not stored on the device, not uploaded to the cloud, and not shared with third parties.
The toothbrush offers three brushing intensity modes, vibrates up to 58 thousand times per minute, and promises up to 10 days of use on a single charge. There is also a manual stream activation function.
The launch has sparked lively discussions on social media: some call the device innovative, while others are surprised by the price and the presence of a camera in the bathroom. Whether such technology is worth its cost is a question each person will decide for themselves.
