Silence in the cabin. Outside the window — desert, mountains, or simply a backwater where cellular service gave up long ago. And on the Tesla's large screen, a 4K stream plays smoothly, Autopilot updates, and the connection to the servers never breaks for a second.
This is no longer a fantasy.
This is the reality of 2026.
Tesla has begun installing Starlink antennas en masse right at the factory. Especially actively — on the Cybercab. What until recently was the domain of enthusiasts with dishes on their roofs is now becoming a standard option. The antenna hides in the rear of the body, almost invisible, but it works constantly.
For ordinary cars, this is a convenience.
For Robotaxi, it is a necessity.
An autonomous fleet cannot afford "dead zones." When a car drives without a driver, the connection must be ironclad: telemetry, remote control, updates, video stream. Cellular networks cover cities. Starlink covers the planet.
Elon Musk said outright: you can't leave robots in "Bermuda Triangles" of no connectivity. Now this is being solved not with crutches, but with standard integration.
What this changes in practice:
- In the most remote places, the car stays online
- Robotaxi passengers can watch movies and play cloud games without lag
- The fleet receives a continuous stream of data for training neural networks
- Situations where the car "gets lost" due to poor cellular service disappear
This is not just "internet in the car."
This is the transformation of the automobile into an always-connected node of a vast network.
Tesla and SpaceX are merging more and more. Tesla batteries power SpaceX data centers. SpaceX satellites provide connectivity to Tesla cars. The result is a closed loop that is hard for anyone else to replicate.
While competitors argue about whether satellite internet is needed in a car, Tesla is already putting antennas on the assembly line.
And the most interesting part is only beginning.
Because the next step, according to Musk, is that Starlink should appear on every Tesla at all.
