Samsung has officially confirmed the launch of its new premium foldable smartphone, the W27, in China on 29 October. The device will be an exclusive version of the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra with an improved design and will be available only in the Chinese market.
The model will continue the tradition of the W series — luxurious variants of foldables sold through China Telecom. According to leaks, the W27 will feature gold accents on the frame and camera module, a dark blue or red back panel, and the signature gold W-series logo. Otherwise, the device matches the specifications of the Z Fold8 Ultra: an internal 8-inch foldable AMOLED screen and an external 6,5-inch display with a refresh rate of 120 Hz, a Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 for Galaxy processor, a triple camera (200 MP + 50 MP + 10 MP), and a battery with a capacity of 5000 mAh with 45 W charging.
The W27 is expected to offer up to 16 GB of RAM and up to 1 TB of storage. Compared with the global version of the Galaxy Z Fold8 Ultra (from 14 999 yuan), the Chinese model will be more expensive, just like its predecessor, the W26, which started at 16 999 yuan. Pre-orders are already open in authorized stores, with the first deliveries expected on 5 November.
Among its strengths are the premium finish and, by the series' tradition, possibly an expanded package with a charger and exclusive Galaxy AI features. However, the exact differences in software and price have not yet been officially confirmed. Full specifications and pricing will be revealed at the event on 29 October.
Compared with the global Z Fold8 Ultra, the W27 wins in design and positioning as a luxury variant, but it does not offer new hardware features. Competitors such as the Huawei Mate X6 or other Chinese foldables in this segment offer similar screens and cameras, but the W27 is aimed at buyers who value status and the exclusivity of the Chinese market.
For those looking for a top-tier foldable smartphone specifically in China, the W27 will be a notable offering thanks to its design and potentially rich package.
