Xiaomi has officially unveiled the Xiaomi 18 Fold — a new foldable smartphone with a red body, the Xuanjie O3 chip, and a price starting at 12 000 yuan. The release is scheduled for September 7 in China.

The smartphone is positioned as the most premium in Xiaomi's history. It uses a new form of "medium" or "wide" folding: the external screen of 5,38 inches is convenient for one hand, while the internal 7,58–7,6 inches unfolds to an aspect ratio close to 4:3 for multitasking and media. The body thickness is controlled, and the side camera protrudes as a horizontal strip.

The main innovation is the world's first Xuanjie O3 (Xring O3) chip on 3 nm from TSMC. It is a 10-core processor with a maximum frequency of 4,35 GHz and a 16-core GPU G2-Ultra NX. The manufacturer claims a 85% increase in graphics performance and a 64% reduction in power consumption compared to the previous generation. Memory is the world's first LPDDR6 from Changxin, with a peak speed of 12 800 Mbps and capacity up to 16 GB. The smartphone runs on Android 17 with HyperOS.

The cameras include a triple Leica system: a main sensor up to 200 MP, an ultra-wide and a telephoto lens with 3,5x optical zoom. The battery is about 6000 mAh with 67 W wired charging and 50 W wireless. Protection is IP68. The color is bright red, as shown in official photos and videos.

The price starts at 12 000 yuan (approximately 1650 dollars) — Xiaomi is crossing the 10 000 yuan threshold for the first time. This is higher than the starting price of the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 8 in China. There are no full reviews yet, but based on the stated specifications, the device competes with flagship foldable models of 2026.

The Xiaomi 18 Fold will be available in China starting September 7; a global release has not been confirmed.
