iOS 27.2 and iPadOS 27.2 were released on 26 October 2026. The update activates Apple Pencil (USB-C) support on the foldable iPhone Duo and enables the clinical Hearing Aid feature for AirPods Pro 2 and AirPods Pro 3 in five Canadian provinces.
The iPhone Duo is Apple's first foldable smartphone, which went on sale in October 2026. The update makes it possible to use the stylus on the outer and inner displays: annotate PDFs, draw in Notes and Freeform, and save handwritten notes. Only the Apple Pencil (USB-C) model, priced at 69 dollars, is supported. The Edge Light feature adds illumination along the edge of the display during video calls in FaceTime and Zoom.
In Canada, Hearing Aid now works in Alberta, British Columbia, New Brunswick, Prince Edward Island and Saskatchewan. The feature amplifies ambient sound for adults with mild to moderate hearing loss and is available free of charge after a test in the Health app. Hearing Test is available nationwide on AirPods Pro 2 and later with iOS 27.2. Apple continues to coordinate the rollout in the remaining provinces, including Ontario.
The manufacturer did not disclose the exact battery specifications of the iPhone Duo in the context of the Pencil and did not compare battery life with previous iPhone models. Support is limited to the USB-C Pencil only; the Pro version is incompatible. In other countries, Hearing Aid is not yet available.
Compared with the Galaxy Z Fold 7, the iPhone Duo gains Pencil support sooner after launch, but it lags behind in accessory pricing and in the number of supported regions for medical features. Competitors such as Samsung have already been offering the S Pen on foldable devices since their release.
iPhone Duo and AirPods Pro owners in the permitted Canadian provinces should install the iOS 27.2 update to get immediate access to the new capabilities.
