Bracelet without buttons or a screen launches: AI will alert the family itself if something is wrong with their health

On 29 September 2026, the company CloserLook Health officially launched the CloserLook Band — an innovative screenless wearable bracelet designed for continuous health monitoring of elderly people, with the ability to transmit data to family through a mobile app. The device reflects a growing trend in the healthcare industry: a view of continuous remote monitoring as a solution to the generational divide, when children and parents live on different continents.

The bracelet tracks key health indicators — heart rate, blood oxygen level, body temperature, daily steps and sleep quality. All data is synchronised with a secure cloud app, where up to three family members (the so-called "circle of care") get access to real-time readings. Most importantly, the system uses AI to analyse individual patterns: when there are deviations from a personal norm, relatives receive smart notifications on their smartphones, which allows them to react proactively rather than after a crisis.

The story of how the device came about is typical of modern healthcare: the company's founder faced the classic problem of a mobile family. The father lived in India, the son worked in Boston. Uncertainty, distance, rare phone calls with the generic phrases "everything's fine" — this pushed him to create a solution that provides concrete data instead of a feeling of helplessness. After six months of daily use, the father never takes the bracelet off; the family now discusses specific activity and sleep-quality figures instead of empty reassurances. However, the developers clearly position the CloserLook Band as a device for general monitoring, not a medical device, so the data serves as information for family oversight, not diagnosis.

The CloserLook Band is sold with a two-tier pricing model: the Core version will cost $199 per year (including the device itself and an annual subscription), the Pro version — $299 per year with advanced analytical functions and personalised recommendations. Both versions include free delivery to India and a 30-day warranty with the right to a full refund. Activation takes 5 minutes via a simple QR code, after which the bracelet operates in a fully passive mode: the owner does not need to press anything, remember to charge it or synchronise data manually. The company provides support via chat and video calls in English, Hindi and Tamil.

Among the standout features are the complete absence of a screen and buttons on the device, and a maximum emphasis on passive data collection and transmission of only the final metrics to the app. This is a deliberate design choice: the creators noted that complex interfaces often put off elderly users who grew up without smartphones. The manufacturer, however, has not disclosed the battery capacity, exact dimensions, weight or full charging cycle. There are no independent tests or comparisons with analogues such as Carely — a similar screenless bracelet for remote monitoring of the elderly — available in the public domain.

In the competitive remote-monitoring market, the CloserLook Band stands out for its affordable subscription price and strong emphasis on family access, but without public tests by actual users, the reliability of the AI notifications and the real duration of battery life remain a matter of trust. The 30-day trial period serves as the only way to evaluate convenience and accuracy in real household conditions before a final decision.
