Apple, together with LG Electronics, is developing a series of smart home devices that they plan to unveil on 13 October 2026. The lineup includes a video doorbell, a thermostat, a smart deadbolt lock, indoor and outdoor security cameras, as well as a camera with a floodlight and a temperature sensor.
All devices will be released under the LG brand, although they were developed jointly with Apple. They support the Thread and Matter protocols, as well as Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. The smart lock is additionally equipped with ultra-wideband (UWB) technology for automatically opening the door when the user approaches. The products integrate with Apple's new smart station — a hub with a six-inch display that can be placed on a table or mounted on a wall, as well as with the updated HomePod mini and the new Apple TV set-top box.
According to Bloomberg, the announcement of the Apple and LG devices will take place simultaneously with the presentation of the hub and updated Apple products. However, the LG accessories themselves will not go on sale until several months after 13 October. LG's regulatory documents already contain model names such as LG Video Doorbell Wired and LG Smart Deadbolt Lock, but detailed images and specifications are still hidden.
Information about the exact specifications, prices and availability in different regions is not yet available. The manufacturer has not disclosed battery capacities, camera resolutions or charging speeds. Hands-on reviews and independent tests are also unavailable until the official launch.
Compared with the offerings from Amazon (Ring) and Google (Nest), the Apple and LG devices stand out for their support of Matter and Thread, as well as their tight integration with the Apple ecosystem. However, they will arrive later than their competitors and will be sold under the LG brand, which may affect how buyers perceive them.
Buyers should wait for the official specifications and prices on 13 October to assess the real value of the lineup.
