It seems that a new chapter is indeed beginning in Angelina Jolie's life.
But this is not about the much-publicized "departure from cinema", as some media outlets have already written. Jolie is not abandoning her profession — she is, rather, preparing to leave the life she has led in Los Angeles in recent years.
And there is a very personal reason behind this story.
Just a few years ago, the actress openly said that she was staying in Los Angeles primarily because of her children and the circumstances that arose after her divorce from Brad Pitt. She explained that she would be able to choose more freely where to live only after her younger children reached adulthood.
And she indeed waited for that moment.
The twins Knox and Vivienne turned 18 years old on 12 July 2026. Now all six of Jolie's children are adults — and the need to be constantly tied to one city has practically disappeared.
A home that was a refuge
Another symbolic step is that her famous house in Los Feliz has been put up for sale.
Jolie purchased the historic estate, once owned by director Cecil B. DeMille, in 2017 for about 24,5 million dollars — shortly after her separation from Pitt.
It was here that she lived with her children through one of the most difficult periods of her life.
In the spring of 2026, the mansion was put up for sale for almost 30 million dollars. And this step itself looks very telling: the children have grown up, the old stage is complete — and the home that was the center of family life for many years can now also be let go.
Where is she going?
Jolie has never hidden that Hollywood is not the only possible home for her.
A special place in her life is occupied by Cambodia, with which she has been connected by decades of personal and humanitarian work. Moreover, the actress has long said that she would like to live more freely — to travel, spend time in different countries, and be closer to the people she considers her family.
So her possible departure from Los Angeles looks not like an escape, but the fulfillment of a long-postponed desire.
But Jolie is not saying goodbye to cinema
Here the rumors already noticeably diverge from reality.
Angelina still has several film projects, including new acting and producing works. Therefore, to say that she is ending her career is still completely wrong.
It is more accurate to say this:
Angelina Jolie is not leaving cinema. She is leaving a life that has been defined by circumstances for too long.
Perhaps that is why this whole story feels much deeper than an ordinary news about the sale of a Hollywood mansion.
She waited until the younger children grew up.
She waited until she could choose where to live herself.
And now that this moment has finally come, Jolie seems to close the door of one big house — in order to open the next one.
Not the end of a career. Rather the beginning of a life without the need to stay where one no longer wants to be.
