"Desert Warrior" (English: Desert Warrior) is a large-scale historical feature film directed by Rupert Wyatt, released in the spring of 2026. The picture tells about the emergence of Arab unity in the 7th century. However, despite the grand scale and stellar cast, the film turned out to be surprisingly boring and bloody.
Main Plot
The action takes place in ancient Arabia. The cruel Persian emperor Kisra II issues a bold ultimatum, demanding that the Arab tribes give their daughters to him as concubines. The proud princess Hind categorically refuses to submit and flees with her father, King Numan, into the ruthless desert. Fleeing from relentless pursuers, they are forced to trust a mysterious warrior named Hanzala. During this dangerous journey, Hind transforms from royalty into a fearless warrior and ultimately unites the warring tribes for the grand historical Battle of Dhi-Qar.
Cast and Production
The film's cast looks very solid:

* Ben Kingsley embodied the image of the tyrannical emperor Kisra II.
* Sharlto Copley was cast as the bloodthirsty pursuer Jalabzin.
From a production standpoint, the film became the most expensive project entirely shot in Saudi Arabia by MBC Studios. The locations chosen are impressive, but unfortunately, they do not save the film from rhythm problems.

The film also received a strict R age rating due to the abundance of bloody and violent battle scenes, which, however, do not add depth to the plot, but merely tire the viewer.
The project turned into a colossal financial failure: grossing only about 665,000 dollars worldwide against an astronomical budget of 150 million dollars, it became one of the season's biggest disappointments. Audiences and critics alike are lambasting the film for weak marketing, protracted production, and poor editing. Despite the huge investment and rich historical background, "Desert Warrior" failed to resonate with the audience, remaining just a beautiful, but tedious and excessively violent spectacle.
