On August 7, 2026, the fifth installment of the PURSUE program unveiled a significant collection of materials, including three official images and twenty-two documents. Among these were eight digital reconstructions by the FBI: three presented as standalone image files and five embedded within PDF documents. The combination of compelling witness testimonies with these visual representations has emerged as one of the most widely discussed aspects of this latest release.
A particularly striking example is the incident over Bagram Air Base in Afghanistan in 2002. A military pilot, accompanied by a colleague, reported observing a massive, silent, equilateral triangle, estimated to be around 500 feet in size. The object traversed the sky from west to east at approximately 150 knots, devoid of lights, and obscured the stars. It then executed an abrupt 90-degree tilt, a maneuver entirely uncharacteristic of conventional aircraft. This testimony is accompanied by a digital reconstruction titled “Airborne Triangle” (FBI-UAP-D025).
Astrophysicist Avi Loeb, in an article published on Medium, pointed out that no known flying apparatus possesses such dimensions and capabilities. He highlighted that even the largest existing aircraft, the Stratolaunch Roc, has a wingspan of 385 feet, making the reported UAP's size and performance truly anomalous.
The same pilot later recounted recurring observations beginning in 2023. During commercial flights, he consistently sighted white lights that would slowly brighten and dim over periods ranging from 10 seconds to a minute, sometimes remaining visible for as long as 45 minutes or even up to two hours. Intriguingly, some of these objects also demonstrated changes in direction.
Loeb further elaborated that such prolonged observations are difficult to attribute to satellites, which typically pass overhead for only a few minutes. Moreover, the reported changes in direction are inconsistent with the principles of orbital mechanics, adding another layer of mystery to these aerial phenomena.
Two other notable images in the release pertain to incidents in Colorado Springs in 2023. Witnesses described the appearance of a dark, translucent triangle and a larger object adorned with red lights at its corners. The triangle reportedly emerged from peculiar “pixelated” cloud formations, accelerated almost instantaneously, and vanished without a trace of sound. The reconstruction “Dark Translucent Triangle” (FBI-UAP-D027) is available in PDF format, while “Large Triangle with Red Lights” (FBI-UAP-D031) is an individual image file. An earlier reconstruction, “Dark Triangle with Lights” from 2011 (FBI-UAP-D029), was also included.
Beyond the triangular objects, the release featured four digital reconstructions from 2026 depicting “Multiple Red Lights” (FBI-UAP-D038, D039, D041, and D042). These visuals are associated with sightings of numerous red lights over the Western USA and complement report FBI-UAP-D037, which details an unusual temporal anomaly: following a UAP observation, a witness's analog clock advanced by 20–25 minutes compared to two digital clocks, with the discrepancy persisting.
Loeb commented that such a temporal divergence is challenging to reconcile with known physics and could potentially indicate an electromagnetic influence. Additionally, among the documents, the “Film Analysis of Unidentified Objects 1953” (DOW-UAP-D098) garnered attention, examining film reels from 1950 and 1952 over Montana and Utah. The objects captured were described as possessing “construction and material not generally known.”
A report identified as DOW-UAP-D101, detailing events in the Gulf of Oman on September 8, 2021, provoked a strong reaction. An AC-130 crew, during a firing exercise, observed approximately 25 “cold orbs.” Two objects materialized near a deployed flare and instantaneously departed the scene the moment firing commenced. Subsequently, the orbs began moving in formation at speeds up to 1300 miles per hour, interacting with one another “like dolphins.” Loeb emphasized that the “coldness” of these objects precludes conventional thermal signatures from engines, while their reaction to gunfire and coordinated flight demand further explanation.
A 1963 diplomatic cable concerning events in Brazil also warrants specific mention. According to the document, a large metallic sphere purportedly crashed in the Conde region of Bahia state, leaving a crater. The object was described as having window-like openings covered by thick glass. Inside, a human body was allegedly found, clad in heavy clothing with undecipherable inscriptions. It is crucial to note that this material represents a preserved message from that era, not a confirmed conclusion.
Avi Loeb, a Harvard University astrophysicist and chairman of the UAP Science Advisory Council, provided his assessment of the fifth release. In a post on X and a detailed Medium article published on August 7, 2026, he highlighted that the most remarkable anomalies in this collection are found within the verbal testimonies rather than in video evidence. He asserted that such cases necessitate further rigorous scientific investigation.
Loeb underscored that these phenomena could represent either unknown natural occurrences, classified secret projects, or manifestations of non-terrestrial technologies. He strongly advocated for the systematic collection of additional quantitative data using precisely calibrated sensors. The images and documents within this fifth release collectively reinforce the recurring emphasis on triangular forms and multiple light objects, demonstrating that similar observations have been recorded for decades. All these cases remain unresolved, and the materials have been made public for open scrutiny, with the combination of witness accounts and eight digital reconstructions making this particular release exceptionally rich in content.
