Santa Teresa, Brazil, is participating in the City Nature Challenge (CNC) from April 25-28, 2025. This global event encourages community scientists to document local flora and fauna using the iNaturalist app.
Participants can contribute by taking photos and recording audio of wild plants, animals, and fungi within the city limits. The goal is to enhance understanding of urban biodiversity and provide valuable data for scientific research and conservation efforts.
The National Institute of the Atlantic Forest (INMA) is supporting the initiative. The CNC, founded in 2016, has grown into a global movement with over 700 cities participating. Santa Teresa's involvement highlights the region's rich biodiversity and commitment to citizen science.
