Edited by: Anulyazolotko Anulyazolotko

Marseille is participating in the City Nature Challenge from April 25th to 28th, 2025, encouraging citizens to document the city's plant and animal life using the iNaturalist app. This initiative, in collaboration with Aix-Marseille University, aims to enhance understanding and preservation of local biodiversity.

Participants are invited to record observations in various urban and coastal environments. The collected data will be analyzed by experts and contribute to global biodiversity databases like GBIF, aiding researchers worldwide.

The City of Marseille encourages residents to participate and help surpass 10,000 citizen observations. Training sessions and accompanied naturalist discoveries are scheduled to help participants learn how to use iNaturalist effectively. The results will be available on May 6th.
