Whom does a medium communicate with when contacting the souls of the dead?

Dear lee, please advise. If a person dies, the Soul goes on to another incarnation. The old shell goes away together with the ego construct. (If I understand correctly.) Then how do mediums and other specialists communicate with the "dead" decades later? Whom are they communicating with?

The Soul does not run back and forth; it is present in incarnations all at once, simultaneously.
The "shell" is a focusing in this place-time, maintained through DNA. When this focus, from this position (the body as a receiver-transmitter of sensations), loses significance, it ceases. To an outside observer this looks like death, but for the soul it is like "switching to another channel." The experience of the personality (self-identification and memory) expands in order to take part in another game.

You, for example, came into this game not remembering the other experiences of a multitude of lives, but they exist within your self-identification — the very choice of this life was determined by the experience of others. In this way you supplement and create the overall picture as a whole, simultaneously.

Without this incarnation of yours, the meanings of thousands of other lives are lost or distorted. Many ideas and desires of this life of yours are subconsciously dictated by others. If you remembered them, you would get lost in these meanings-values, because in each case there is some context of its own.

Mediums communicate not so much with the personality as with the collective image of that consciousness which this personality had. Moreover, it depends on the level of consciousness of the medium himself which layer of that consciousness he can perceive. Here one can offer such an image as "describing a person by smell," or, as people often do, "understanding another through a biography." It is clear that there will be a heap of conjectures here, but this is exactly how the medium's mind works with someone else's consciousness — it runs someone else's vibrations through itself.
