Indonesia plans to limit its greenhouse gas emissions growth to 23% by 2035 compared to 2019 levels. This initiative aims to conserve forests and peatlands as part of its strategy to mitigate pollution.
Environment Minister Hanif Faisol Nurofiq stated that the country's total emissions are expected to reach between 1.3 billion and 1.4 billion tons annually within the next decade. These targets were initially outlined in draft goals released in August.
Indonesia is set to submit its emission reduction goals to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change by mid-February.
