Castilla-La Mancha Boosts Electric Mobility Incentives by €11.5 Million

CIUDAD REAL, 9 Nov 2024 - The Castilla-La Mancha government is expanding the Moves III electric mobility incentive program by an additional €11.5 million. This initiative aims to cover all existing aid applications and encourage new requests for electric vehicle (EV) adoption.

Director General of Energy Transition, Alipio García, announced that the total budget for electric mobility incentives in the region will reach €52.1 million. The Moves III program, part of the European Recovery Plan, started with an initial budget of €15.5 million in 2021, which was doubled to €32.3 million in 2023.

As of May 2024, an additional €5 million was allocated by the Institute for Diversification and Energy Saving (IDAE), bringing the total to €37.3 million. The program has received 5,135 applications for vehicle purchases, with 3,854 processed, amounting to over €17.7 million in aid.

For EV charging infrastructure, €24.5 million has been mobilized with 3,046 applications, resulting in €12.3 million in aid for over 1,000 charging points. The incentives cover up to €7,000 for electric vehicle purchases and €1,300 for electric motorcycles, contingent on scrapping older vehicles.

In rural areas, subsidies can reach 80% for charging infrastructure, with an additional 10% for projects in municipalities with fewer than 5,000 residents. The program has also seen significant uptake in Ciudad Real, with 853 aids granted totaling nearly €5 million.

In 2023, renewable energy accounted for 66.5% of the region's total generation, with Ciudad Real leading in installed photovoltaic capacity. The region's commitment to renewable energy is underscored by over €16 million allocated for self-consumption initiatives, with nearly 3,000 applications approved.
