Residents in three communities in Victoria, Australia, have been ordered to evacuate immediately due to an uncontrolled bushfire that has spread rapidly. The emergency was declared on Wednesday evening, affecting areas including Bornes Hill, Moyston, and Pomonal.

The fire is advancing in a southeasterly direction, with significant fire activity noted between Lynches Crossing Track and Childs Lane. Authorities have warned that private properties adjacent to the National Park may be impacted within hours.

Over 40,000 hectares have already been scorched, and it remains unsafe for residents to return to Bellfield, Halls Gap, and surrounding areas. Currently, more than 100 firefighters are engaged in efforts to contain the blaze.

Relief centers have been established at Alexandra Oval Community Centre in Ararat and Grampians Community Health in Stawell. In addition, total fire bans have been enacted across various regions in South Australia, where temperatures are expected to reach 36°C.

The Country Fire Authority has raised concerns about the existing fires and the potential for new outbreaks due to extreme fire risk conditions. Wind gusts of up to 100 km/h are anticipated, posing additional challenges for firefighting efforts.

Residents are advised to prepare for possible power outages, as utility provider AusNet may implement cuts to mitigate fire risks. As a cooler change approaches Victoria, fire dangers are expected to shift into central northeastern New South Wales.
