As of January 1, motorcycles with up to 170cc are exempt from the Vehicle Property Tax (IPVA) in Paraná, Brazil. This initiative, sanctioned by Governor Carlos Massa Ratinho Junior, benefits approximately 732,000 residents.
The IPVA exemption for motorcycles results in an average savings of R$ 474 per year for owners. The measure aims to support essential workers such as delivery drivers, who play a crucial role in the local economy.
Governor Ratinho Junior stated, "They are essential workers generating jobs and income, helping Paraná to grow," emphasizing the significance of these professionals for the state's economic development.
In addition to the motorcycle tax exemption, other tax changes have been implemented:
Simplification of fuel taxation: The tax is now levied only once during the commercialization cycle, eliminating distortions from the previous model and standardizing collection nationwide.
Adjustments to the Inheritance and Donation Tax: Exemptions have been expanded for properties valued up to R$ 365,000, and for severance payments up to R$ 70,170, benefiting heirs and spouses.
These changes are part of the state government's effort to simplify the tax structure and alleviate the burden on citizens. According to the governor, such measures "strengthen the economy and sustainability in the state."
