Jeff Bezos Invests $400 Million in AI Robotics Startup Physical Intelligence

Physical Intelligence, an American startup developing artificial intelligence software for robots, secured $400 million in funding on November 4 from Amazon founder Jeff Bezos and several venture capital firms, including Thrive Capital, Lux Capital, OpenAI, Redpoint Ventures, and Bond.

The company is creating a universal software, termed 'p0' or 'pi-zero', which aims to enable various robots to perform everyday tasks without needing specific programming for each function. Founders believe this technology could evolve to match the capabilities of advanced language models like ChatGPT, potentially ushering in a new era in robotics.

Founded this year, Physical Intelligence has seen its valuation rise to $2 billion, up from approximately $70 million in its early stages. The significant interest from major tech companies in AI for robotics underscores the growing importance of this sector, as Amazon continues to expand its use of robots to enhance delivery and order management processes.
