Surgeon Links Anxiety to Memory Loss in Youth, Advocates Meditation for Improvement

A neurosurgeon has identified anxiety as a primary factor contributing to memory loss in young individuals, recommending non-drug methods such as meditation to enhance memory.

According to a report by Salamat News, Dr. Mehdi Khajavi explained that forgetfulness in youth does not necessarily indicate serious diseases like Alzheimer's. He emphasized that anxiety and mental clutter are among the most significant causes of memory issues in individuals aged 20 to 50, often related to daily stress and pressure.

Khajavi pointed out that Alzheimer's typically manifests at older ages as a form of dementia. He advised young people experiencing memory loss to focus more on reducing their anxiety rather than worrying about specific diseases.

The specialist stressed that complex drug treatments are not necessary for improving memory and reducing forgetfulness in youth. He considers non-drug approaches, such as meditation and mindfulness, to be highly effective, suggesting that practicing meditation for just five minutes daily over five weeks can significantly enhance memory and reduce stress.

Khajavi also warned against the use of over-the-counter memory enhancement drugs available in pharmacies, stating that these medications not only lack efficacy but may also be harmful and create new problems.

Ultimately, to combat forgetfulness and strengthen memory, there should be a greater focus on reducing anxiety and utilizing natural methods like meditation and mindfulness, which not only aid memory improvement but also enhance an individual's mental and physical well-being.
